This is important. American fisherman reveals the real reason California is pushing for Dam removals
Citing specific instances where right after California removed other Dams, power bills doubled and water to farmland was cut off
Again, it was environmental NGOs pushing for it
The Klamath River dam removals, involving 4 hydroelectric dams were driven by a coalition of environmental NGOs
The environmental NGOs that pushed for the Klamath River dam removals were American Rivers, Ridges to Riffles Conservation Group, California Trout, Save California Salmon, Native Fish Society, and Trout Unlimited.
“We’ve been here before. These dams have not been a problem for over a hundred years. There have been fish, power and water. The same plan was used for the Klamath River. The Klamath river dams were set for removal that very year.
The farm ditch water was shut off due to flows. The fish are in decline. That is true. In the 90s, the international waters were moved closer to our coastlines. The fish can’t get away. The giant international boats scoop the fish up. It’s. It’s incredible.
During the same time we lost funding for our fish hatcheries. The PG dams are getting sued. That’s why they’re not profitable. We’re not being told the whole truth.
These people that are in charge will take these dams out no matter what we say. We have to fight. There’s no other way. We have to have to stand up. That’s right. We are the many, they are the few. They cannot control us. This is not America. This is not the United States.
The power bill has doubled since the climate dams were removed. I’m a fisherman. I’ve been on the river. I have more time on the river than any of these people that are telling us we need to take the dam out. The problem isn’t the water. The problem is managing. They’ve mismanaged our water terribly”
