Actor Sonya Hussyn, who is gearing up for her upcoming drama, Gangs of Khorasan, talked about how she is often touted as a doppelganger for several Indian stars. The Daadal actor recently revealed that she’s been told that she resembles former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Bollywood’s first-ever female superstar, the late Sridevi.
Hussyn made a guest appearance on The Night Show and was asked how many times she has been compared to international celebrities, especially Bollywood A-listers. “People compare me with everyone. It depends on whatever the new get-up I do. They always compare me with someone. Nowadays, people say, ‘You look like Srivdevi,’” she said, flattered by the compliment.
“I was shocked after hearing that because Sridevi is so beautiful. They also compare me with Priyanka Chopra. And well, she’s beautiful too but I like that comparison because I like her as a person,” she continued. “She’s an established and successful woman but Sridevi is like really beautiful. She’s very pretty and it’s a compliment for me if people think that I resemble her.”
The Tich Button actor added that she’s actually flattered that people see her resembling some of the most beautiful stars in the world and does not mind it at all. “In fact, I think highly of them. It’s a huge compliment for me,” she concluded.
On the work front, Hussyn has been taking a rather unconventional path to be a leading face in the industry. Ditching the traditional heroine roles, the actor was last seen as a boxer-turned-target killer in Abu Aleeha’s Daadal and will be seen as a pixie-haired drug addict in Gangs of Khorasan alongside Gohar Rasheed.
