Southern Railway Recruitment 2024: Vacancy Details
The recruitment programme aims to fill 2,438 vacant apprentice positions in the Signal and Telecommunication Workshop in Podanur, Carriage and Wagon Works, Railway Hospital/Perambur Division, Loco Works, Engineering Division Arakkonam, Electrical Workshop, Chennai Division, Trivandrum Division, Palghat Division, Salem Division, Tiruchchirappalli Division and Madurai Division.
Southern Railway Recruitment 2024: Eligibility Criteria
As per the notification, for the Freshers Category, the applicant must have passed Class 10 and Class 12 with at least 50 per cent marks.
For the ex-ITI category posts, applicants must have passed Class 10 and have an Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) Certificate. Additionally, an NCVT Certificate in the relevant trade is required.
To apply, candidates must reside within the following locations under Southern Railway’s jurisdiction:
- Tamil Nadu
- Puducherry
- Kerala
- Andaman and Nicobar Island
- Lakshadweep Island
- Two districts of Andhra Pradesh- SPSR Nellore and Chittoor
- One district of Karnataka- Dakshina Kannada
Age Limit:
The minimum age to apply for the apprentice positions is 15 years and the maximum age is 22 to 24 years. The upper age limit is relaxed by 3 years for OBC applicants, 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates.

According to the official notification, candidates belonging to the General/OBC/EWS categories need to pay an application fee of ₹ 100, while the applicants belonging to the SC/ST categories don’t have to pay for the registration. Female and physically handicapped candidates are also exempted from the fee.
