Paul Walker is part of ‘Fast X’, says director | The Express Tribune
Even after Paul Walker’s untimely demise in 2013, he continues to play an essential role in the much-acclaimed Fast & Furious franchise. His character, Brian O’Conner, has been kept alive on screen using CGI and the late actor’s two brothers, Cody and Caleb Walker as body doubles.
Now that the series is coming to an end, the newest director, Louis Leterrier revealed that Brain will also appear in the next sequel, Fast X, as he has in the prior films, reported Collider.
“Well, Brian is very much alive in the world of Fast & Furious, and they’ve teased him a lot in the previous movies. In the last film, we saw him in the car. It’s something that was planned. This movie jumps back and forth between the past and the present. You will see Brian in the past, you won’t see Brian in the present. It’s something that everybody has to be on board with. The Walker family is still very much a part of this franchise, you’ll see how in this movie. It just has to be the right moment, the right tone,” said Leterrier.
The director also added that “Brian has to re-enter the franchise as perfectly as he left it.” Fast & Furious 10, officially titled Fast X, is set to be the second-last film of the nine-part series, marking an end to the great adventures of Vin Diesel’s Dominic Torreto.
The official trailer for the new installment was released on February 10, 2023, and introduced fans to numerous new faces, including Jason Momoa’s villainous Dante, who is the son of Hernan Reyes, the drug lord that Dom and his family fought in Fast Five. The nearly 4-minute-long video also revealed that John Cena’s Jakob Toretto, who was the main villain in the previous film, will now work with his brother Dom.
Apart from Diesel, other original cast members will make their comeback, including Michelle Rodriguez (Letty Ortiz), Jordana Brewster (Mia Toretto), Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce), Ludacris (Tej Parker), Nathalie Emmanuel (Ramsey), Charlize Theron (Cipher), Scott Eastwood (Little Nobody) and John Cena (Jakob Toretto).
Fast X is set to premiere in theatres by May 19.
