INDIA’S FINANCIAL WATCHDOG RAIDS GEORGE SOROS FOUNDATION OFFICES Enforcement Directorate conducted searches at George Soros’s Open Society Foundations for allegedly violating foreign exchange regulations. Investigation claims Soros’s Economic Development Fund provided Rs 25 crore ($3 million) to three Indian companies between 2020-2023 while allegedly attempting to bypass prior approval requirements. OSF has been under India’s “prior reference category” since 2016, requiring special permission for foreign fund transfers.
