Indian Army JAG Entry Recruitment 2025

The Indian Army has announced the recruitment of officers for its Judge Advocate General (JAG) Branch, through the JAG Entry Scheme 34th Course for both men and women. This scheme invites applications from law graduates, specifically those who have completed an LLB degree.

Candidates selected through this entry scheme will be appointed as Short Service Commission Officers in the Indian Army. The official notification detailing the requirements and application process has been released. Interested candidates can visit the Indian Army’s official recruitment website, https://joinindianarmy.nic.in/, to apply online. The application process will start on July 15 and will remain open until August 13.

The JAG Entry Scheme is a prestigious opportunity for law graduates to serve in the Indian Army’s legal branch. It involves rigorous training and the chance to work in a challenging and rewarding environment. Successful applicants will undergo training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) and, upon completion, will be commissioned as officers tasked with legal duties within the army, including advising on military law and handling court-martial cases. For the JAG Entry Scheme, applicants must be between 21 and 27 years old. There are no reservations for any category of candidates in this scheme.

Candidates must have completed a three-year or five-year LLB course with at least 55% marks. It is also necessary to pass CLAT PG 2024. Apart from this, there should also be registration with the Bar Council of India or the Bar Council of the state. Officers who receive a Short Service Commission in the Indian Army initially serve for 10 years.

This tenure can be extended by an additional four years. Additionally, officers may be granted a Permanent Commission in their 10th year of service, allowing them to continue serving in the Army beyond the initial and extended terms.

Upon becoming an army officer through the JAG Entry Scheme, the salary is determined according to the rank in the Indian Army. Initially, officers are commissioned at the rank of Lieutenant, with a salary ranging from ₹ 56,100 to ₹ 1,77,500 as per the Level-10 pay scale.

Officers have the potential to rise to the rank of Major General, where the salary ranges from Rs 1,44,200 to Rs 2,18,200. In addition to the base salary, officers from the rank of Lieutenant to Brigadier receive a monthly Military Service Pay of ₹ 15,500. During the training period, a fixed salary of ₹ 56,100 per month is provided.
