Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s son, Shahzaman Fateh Ali Khan, is making waves on the internet with his soulful performance in the USA. A video of his recent performance has gone viral, leaving Qawwali fans astounded by the striking resemblance of his voice to that of his grand uncle, the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

In a video circulating on Twitter, Shahzaman takes the stage and enthrals the audience with his rendition of Nusrat’s iconic song Kinna Sohna Tenu Rab Ne Banaya. Users on social media were quick to draw comparisons. “Maybe I’m getting overly excited, but Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s son sounds like a very young Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the OG! Meet Shahzaman Fateh Ali Khan. What a time to be alive,” wrote a user.

Music lovers flooded the micro-blogging site with an appreciation for Shahzaman’s performance. “Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s son. Oh my God, does he not sound like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan?” a user wrote. Another commented, “He has a similar voice as Nusrat, but both Nusrat and Rahat were much more polished qawwals by this age. Nusrat was truly the best!”

Shahzaman’s popularity extends beyond Pakistan and USA, reaching India as well. It is reported that the young qawwal had the honour of performing at Anant Ambani’s 28th birthday celebration in Dubai last April.

Father and son, Rahat and Shahzaman, often collaborate and perform together on stage. Shahzaman has openly acknowledged his father’s significant contribution to his musical journey. In an Instagram post, he wrote, “What a great dad he is! Lets me occupy his seat as he takes mine. Knowing that I still have to earn this seat, but still, how willingly he wants to see me on this seat. How blessed I am to have a father and an Ustad like my dad.”

Nusrat left an indelible mark on the world of music. He has sung unforgettable songs such as Dulhe Ka Sehra from films like Dhadkan, featuring Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar, and Shilpa Shetty. The Qawwali maestro has delivered timeless numbers like Dum Mast Qalander Mast and Jhule Jhule Laal. Rahat, Nusrat’s nephew, also made his mark in Bollywood until the ban on Pakistani artists working in India was imposed in 2016.

Rahat lent his soulful voice to numerous Bollywood hits, including Sajdaa, Naina, Main Jahaan Rahoon, O Re Piya and more. His last Bollywood song, Tere Bin, was featured in the film Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan. Rahat has sung many OSTs for Pakistani dramas as well and has been a part of multiple Coke Studio seasons.

With Shahzaman remarkable talent and his uncanny resemblance to the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, music enthusiasts eagerly await his future performances, hoping to witness the continuation of a rich musical legacy.
