Alia compares real wedding to reel wedding | The Express Tribune

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has been making the rounds on social media, be it the songs, the talented actors or the box office success. Alia Bhatt, along with the rest of the team, is currently celebrating the ongoing success of her latest offering as it has now become the second-highest Bollywood grosser of 2023, after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan.

The actor recently attended the success press conference of her Karan Johar film. At the press conference she was asked how her real wedding with husband Ranbir Kapoor was different from her reel wedding with co-star Ranveer Singh, as per The Indian Express.

The movie ends with the two getting married in a grand location and it turns out that the sequence was shot right after Alia’s real-life wedding with Ranbir. In fact, the scene was shot so close to her real wedding that her mehendi in the film is the henna she adorned at her 2022 wedding.

In the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani success press conference Alia revealed that both of her ‘weddings’ were different and the same. She stated that since her wedding was quite recent in her memory, she remembered all of the rituals clearly and even pointed out the pandit’s mistake while filming the pheras.

When Rocky and Rani were taking their pheras, the pandit claimed that the boy would now be in front, which is when Alia corrected him, telling him that the girl should be in the front. She added that she had just completed her own rituals four days before. While she claimed that both weddings were significantly different, they had one thing in common which was about the varmala. In the movie Rocky (Ranveer) kneeled down so that Rani (Alia) could put on the varmala, and coincidentally Ranbir did the same at their real wedding in the preceding days.

The Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022) star also pointed out the difference in her reel wedding outfit and her actual shaadi outfit. She stated that her real wedding outfit was very light and simple. She was wearing an ivory and gold Sabyasachi saree that was minimalistic with intricate details. Her costume as Rani, on the other hand, was an extremely heavy lehenga that came with an accompanying heavy dupatta. Alia recalled struggling in the reel wedding outfit, unlike her actual one, in which she could move around comfortably.
